Planning Holiday Pet Boarding

As the holidays are approaching, you are probably thinking of where your furry friend will stay while you’re away. Right now is the time to plan since this is a very busy time of year for boarding facilities. It is also required by most kennels for vaccinations to be updated before your pet’s stay. At Home Away From Home, we require the following vaccinations:

Dogs:

Rabies, Distemper, Bordatella, and a negative fecal sample as well. ( A monthly flea treatment for fleas and ticks should also be applied prior to boarding)

Cats:

Rabies, Distemper, and a negative fecal sample as well. ( A monthly flea treatment for fleas and ticks should also be applied prior to boarding)

All vaccinations must be administered 10 days prior to boarding to assure that all pets are happy and healthy upon arrival. Bring a copy of vaccinations the day of (or prior to) boarding, or your vetrinarian can fax us over a copy @ (508-238-0316 ).

It is also a good idea to pack your dog or cat’s regular diet for them while they board, to avoid any dietary upset from change in diet. Also, don’t forget any medications that they may be on. A check up with your veterinarian prior to the pet’s stay is a good idea as well, especially for elderly pets or pets with medical conditions.

Now that you’ve taken care  of the boarding essentials, we at Home Away From Home will provide all the love and care in your absence.
